Creating Your Sacred Space & Sacred Tools

There is a strong, special power in spaces and tools that have been dedicated for a specific purpose. Creating your own sacred space and items consecrated for your meditation, witchcraft or spiritual work can be greatly beneficial to your practices. Stronger Spiritual Connection

If you find yourself having a hard time getting into the right headspace, having a sacred space or tools could help you! Research has shown that doing work or homework in bed can cause psychological problems like lack of focus when working or trouble sleeping when trying to shut off for the night. This same thinking can be applied to your meditation or practices! Whenever you go to that space or get out those tools, the energy that you dedicated them with will help you have an easier time getting yourself in the zone for you practice, and strengthen your connection to them!

Consecration

Consecration is the rite in which you declare the tool or space to be sacred. This can be as elaborate or as simple as you'd like it to be. There is no singular way to do it! I personally like to use each of the elements, declaring to each corner that the tool is sacred. It can be a long ritual, but a brief "THIS IS SACRED NOW, AND SO IT IS" would work too. Your call! The most important thing is to remember that afterward that tool now has a dedicated purpose. If you were to declare a marker to be a sacred tool, that marker should only be used in your practice and not for everyday tasks like writing grocery lists. Keeping it special is what makes it sacred!

Get Creative

Not all of your tools need to be sacred, just the ones you feel the need to dedicate. Don't feel confined to only consecrate "traditional" tools either. You might only want to consecrate a marker, and there's nothing wrong with that! Sacred "space" doesn't need to be a whole room either. It could be a table, or a corner. If you're short on space, or if you're closeted and need to be able to put it away, you might consider a consecrated blanket. Whenever you lay out your sacred blanket, it becomes your sacred space. When the work is done, you fold it up and put it away. Not only is this a space saver/secret keeper, but it also could make your sacred space portable for travel if need be!
